Panoramic description

Jojoba oil is not only fascinating due to its multilevel beneficial components, it is also due to the wonder plant from which the oil is derived. Jojoba plant grows and thrives in naturally extreme environment and weather where other plants may not survive for long.

Jojoba plant is an evergreen shrub capable of reaching heights of up to 3 metres in desert regions where night time temperatures are easily between 0 and 5°C and daytime temperatures reach 45°C and above.

The plant survives these harsh conditions due to the tap roots which have the capacity to grow downwards penetrating to depths of 4 metres and even beyond, withdrawing water from the deepest layers underground and piping the water up and around the plant through the plant's organs to the leaves.

The leaves are very efficient reserve protectors fulfilling the food security of the plant preventing dryness in extraordinary manners due to their natural features.

The leaves are specially adapted by nature to cope with the extremely dry weather conditions. The woody shrub bear long narrow leaves covered in leathery surfaces and hairs engineered by nature to prevent water losses and protect the entire plant from the certain dryness and death by ensuring very low levels or none of evaporation of the water so cleverly drawn up from deep down dry places underground.

Jojoba plant exist as separate male and female with corresponding reproductive organs, making it dioecious. The male plants produce the pollen and female plants produce small tiny flowers which develop into the brown, acorn-shaped jojoba nuts after undergoing wind-pollination.

Jojoba plants develop into bushes in very hot places like deserts and remarkably can survive up to 200 years under the harsh weather conditions.

Geographical Location of Jojoba Plants

Jojoba plant is native of Sonoran Desert, the hottest desert on both parts of Mexico and North America. This attests to the capacity of jojoba plant to survive and thrive in extreme weather places.

The plant is found or grown in arid and deserts regions or areas of  Israel, Mexico, Latin America, Southeast California and Southwest Arizona, USA, Australia, South Africa and Mediterranean countries including Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia.

Arid and desert conditions are suitable for cultivating jojoba plants. Israel is currently the highest producer and distributor of jojoba oil in the world.

What is the composition of jojoba nuts that makes them so valuable and beneficial in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries?

Cold pressed jojoba oil contains several important and beneficial components that the human body and systems need to sustain and improve good health, looks and wellbeing of the body parts.
