Components of Jojoba Oil and The Benefits to Human Body
Jojoba Oil obtained from the Jojoba plant, Simmondsia chinensis, contain many natural biological or organic acids and vitamins that are important for good human health and wellbeing. The oil can be extracted from the jojoba plant in several natural, hot, mechanical or chemical methods.
The mechanical and chemical methods interfere with the natural composition of the jojoba oil extract unlike the natural methods such as Cold Pressed oil. Both methods generate heat at high temperatures from frictions, which interfere with the natural composition, structure and, hence, the nature of the natural components of the jojoba oil. Chemical methods may leave undesirable levels of residue difficult to completely remove through further purification or distillation steps.
The most popular and widely natural method of extracting jojoba oil is the Cold Pressed method, which though also involve the application of controlled pressure to press the jojoba nuts and naturally release the oil from the jojoba nuts, the level of pressure and friction does not lead to high temperatures that is capable of changing the nature, composition and structure of the jojoba oil. Hence the quality, type and performance of the oil obtained from the cold pressed process is the highest.
The cold pressed process delivers a beautiful, unadulterated, unaltered, structurally complete, smooth and free flowing golden jojoba oil with all the natural components left completely intact.
When the plant is grown under organic and sustainable agricultural production rules, the jojoba oil composition and quality retains the original natural forms. The natural quality and performance are assured as there is no potential infiltration or contamination from external chemicals in the organic jojoba plant farms. Chemical residues from the soil are avoided or inexistant.
It is worth mentioning at this stage that SainBiotics Golden Jojoba Oil is produced with cold pressed jojoba oil, which has been produced under organic and sustainable agricultural production system. This delivers high quality jojoba oil with the individual natural vitamins and acids fully intact.
These components act individually and collectively in synergy contributing greatly to human internal and external wellbeing, smooth, silky, youthful skin and face, general good health and feel-good factor in users.
Intact cold pressed jojoba oil components include:
Liquid wax
About 50% to 60 % liquid wax. Liquid wax a type of wax that is in the liquid form at ordinary room temperature. The liquid wax forms the basis for the ultimate natural emollient and moisturising characteristics, which helps to boost the multifunctional benefits of jojoba oil.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an important component of cold pressed jojoba oil.
Vitamin E is made up of a group of eight fat soluble compounds that include four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Vitamin E as antioxidant, it contributes to the protection of cell membranes against reactive oxygen radicals, contributing to the crucial role combating aging cells and body organs. Antioxidants help to protect against the ageing of body cells and hence the skin and other body organs and functions.
The antioxidant activity of vitamin E is mainly responsible for the numerous important roles side and outside the body. Oxidation activity has been link to many health conditions and diseases like different types of cancer including skin cancer, ageing, arthritis and cataracts. Reports have demonstrated the effectiveness of vitamin E against such diseases.
Apart from cold pressed jojoba oil, there are numerous natural sources of vitamin E including fishes, vegetable, plant seeds and nuts such as listed below:
Fish: abalone, trout, salmon
Seeds and nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, peanut butter
Cooking oils: wheat germ oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil
Vegetables: red sweet pepper, turnip greens, butternut squash
Fruit: mamey sapote, avocado, mango, kiwi fruit
Seeds and nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, peanut butter, jojoba nuts.
Gadoleic Acid (Eicosenoic Acid)
Gadoleic acid is a natural component of cold pressed jojoba oil and an unsaturated fatty acid, a member of the eicosnoic acids, found in fish oils such as cod fish liver oil. It is also found in other animal fats and vegetable oil. Like human sebum (natural oil produced by human body to naturally moisturise the body), it strongly penetrates the skin and hydrates it without leaving a greasy or oily effect.
Oleic acid
Oleic acid is an omega 9 fatty acid, present in cold pressed jojoba oil and is also made naturally by the body. It is also found in vegetable fats and oils.
Physically, it is colourless and odourless but commercial grades can be yellowish due to the presence of impurities.
Oleic acid has multifunctional health benefits both internally and externally. Moderate presence helps to decrease blood cholesterol and by affecting insulin levels, blood pressure and blood vessels, oleic acid can help to prevent heart disease and other related heart conditions.
It is present in all human tissue but in higher concentrations in the liver. It is a common constituent of the glycerides of human adipose tissue.
Palmitoleate or Palmitoleic acid
Palmitoleate are found naturally in fatty fish, fish oil, some nuts and seeds and oils like macadamia and buckhorn. It has been found to be beneficial for insulin sensitivity, cholesterol metabolism and hemostasis (the process leading to stoppage of bleeding from a cut).
Stearic Acid
Stearic acid, know also as octadecanoic acid, is present and play important role in cold pressed jojoba oil. It is a long chain saturated fatty acid with an 18-carbon chain. It occurs naturally in different sources including shear butter, coconut oil, grains, poultry, milk products and other types of meat.
It is described as non-comedogenic because it does not clog or block pores on skin helping to reduce the possibility acne or pimples developing in some users. It contribute to the performance of jojoba oil in helping to reduce acne and pimples.
Stearic acid is reported as good for individuals with oily and acne prone skins. It helps provide the right moisture and hydration levels on skin, contributing to the general performance of jojoba oil. It is good and safe for the skin and widely used in cosmetic products.
Behenic Acid or Docosanoic acid
Behenic is a crystalline form of esters in natural fats and oil seeds like ben oil, peanut and some waxes including liquid wax like jojoba oil.
As a fatty acid in cold pressed jojoba oil, it helps to provide a protective barrier against environmental perturbations to maintain a good quality skin condition and contributes to its lubricating, soothing and emollient properties, which helps to restore the natural oil of the skin and maintains hydration.
Vitamin B Complex
Cold pressed jojoba oil contains B complex vitamins, a blend group of eight vitamins B, with range of individual and synergistic functions internal and external of the body.
B Vitamins have been attributed with metabolic release of energy and supporting the nervous system. As well as others, vitamin B complex is useful in controlling irritation, sleep disturbances, fatigue anemia, skin effect like dermatitis.
Vitamin B complex is important for good skin quality. It helps to promote growth of new skin cells, which is needed to ensure the healing of damaged skin and helps to support the skin structure and skin barrier layer for protection against harsh environmental effects.
Low levels of vitamin B are associated with dermatitis (dry skin) and overall poor skin health.
B Complex vitamins are important components of cold pressed jojoba oil used in SainBiotics Golden Jojoba Oil and SainBiotics Fine Beard Oil, helping to deliver the unique benefits of both products.
Omega 9
Omega 9 is made up of a group of unsaturated fatty acids that exert important internal and external body functions.
For the skin, omega-9 helps to maintain hydration level of the upper layers of the skin, which in turn helps freshen dry and flaky skins. It helps to improve the ageing skin due to positive improvement of skin elasticity restoring the smoothness, youthfulness and plump of the skin.
Omega-9 contributes to the overall healthy and good impact of cold pressed jojoba oil on the skin.
Like the other components, Omega 9 is critical components of cold pressed jojoba oil used in SainBiotics Golden Jojoba Oil and SainBiotics Fine Beard Oil, helping to deliver the unique benefits for all external body parts as well as the growth and look of beards.
The human body produces omega-9. Though the deficiency may be rare, it is reported that some of the signs or symptoms of omega-9 deficiency may include:
External
Hair loss
Dandruff
Eczema-like symptoms
Dry itchy skin and / or cracking
Peeling skin on fingertips.
Internal
Dry eyes
Stiff/painful joints
Craving for fatty foods.
